Materials: construction paper, scissors, markers
- Sorting is an important early math skill. Use paper hearts to practice!
- In advance, cut hearts out of construction paper. Make them different colors and sizes. You can even add different designs if you’d like.
- Spread out the hearts in front of children. Ask them how they can sort the hearts. If they need help, scaffold them by thinking out loud. Ask, “How are some of the hearts the same? How are they different? Let’s separate them.” Once children have sorted them one way, ask them to find a different way to sort them! sorting
